Dear Irving on Hudson is a natural starting point if you want a lounge rather than a huge party deck. Book the Hudson location inside the Aliz Hotel on West 40th Street. It is a different address from the original Dear Irving.
Overstory’s 64th-floor setting makes a striking celebration, but a reservation includes a $100 food-and-beverage minimum per person. Nubeluz requires reservations and sophisticated cocktail attire. Read those terms together so the evening does not start with a budget or dress-code surprise.
Choose JIMMY after an afternoon in SoHo, or Leonessa after a Hudson waterfront walk. They serve different parts of downtown; pick the one that fits your dinner reservation instead of treating the whole of Lower Manhattan as one neighborhood.
When booking, ask about the table location, whether outdoor seating is guaranteed, and whether there is a time limit. For a proposal or special setup, speak to the venue first. An ordinary bar reservation does not include private space or permission for decorations.
